Phase I of our new shelter project is complete, and the building is standing thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our community. This past week the exterior grounds were graded and seeded; and topsoil was put down. We are now moving into the next visible step: completing the landscaping, parking lot asphalt, and rear fencing. Funding for this portion is already secured, and we are finalizing contractor arrangements now. Like many construction projects nationwide, rising material and labor costs have increased the amount of our USDA loan. We are actively pursuing grants and additional funding opportunities to reduce this long-term debt and protect the shelter’s future. We know the community is eager to see the shelter open — and we are too. Every step we take is focused on moving forward responsibly, efficiently, and with the animals’ best interests at heart. Thank you for standing with us as we work toward a safe, modern, flood-free home for the animals who depend on us. For those who have asked how they can continue supporting the project, contributions to the building fund help reduce the long‑term loan needed to complete the shelter. Every gift — of any size — brings us closer to opening our doors.
